Kalima Tauheed is the Fourth Kalima of Islam which reflects the oneness, greatness, and power of Allah. The 4th (Fourth) Kalima in Arabic states:

The English transliteration of the 4th Kalima is as follows:

La ilaha illallah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahul mulku wa lahul hamdu yuhyi wa yumitu Wahuwa Hayyu-l Laa Yamootu Abadan Abada. Dhul Jalaali Wal Ikraam. Biyadihil Khair. Wahuwa Ala Kulli Shai-in Qadeer.

“There is none worthy of worship except Allah. He is alone and has no partner. To Him belongs the Kingdom and for Him is all praise. He gives life and causes death. In His hand is all good and He has power over everything”.

It means “unification of oneness of Allah SWT”. It emphasizes that no one other than Allah is worthy of worship. It is the first pillar of Islam and it signifies the monotheism which is the essence of Islam. It is a mark of our faith. We worship only Allah and seek help only from Him. This belief marks a clear difference between a Muslim and a Non-Muslim.

Associating partners with Allah is called Shirk. Performing shirk is a major sin in Islam that Allah SWT does not forgive.

Segments Of The 4th Kalma

The three segments of the 4th Kalima can also be understood like this:

  1. First is the Tauheed of Allah SWT. He is the only ilaah. None other than Him SWT is worthy of Worship.
  2. All the Praise Belongs only and only to Him
  3. He is the most Powerful and both this Dunya and Akhirah belong to Him. It gives a very strong message that even the achievements in the Dunya of a Muslim depend upon the submission to Allah SWT. To the disbelievers, he gives the Dunya easily. But for a believer until and unless they streamline their actions and life of Dunya following Islam they will not succeed. And of course, the life and success of akhirah are also dependent on this. Here, a lot of Muslims get confused and separate the success of Dunya from the success of Akhira.

Benefits of Reciting 4th Kalma 100 Times

The fourth Kalima, recited 100 times a day, will provide protection and have an immense reward.

According to the Hadith Sahih Muslim 2691, the person who recites 100 times in a day would be rewarded as if they freed 10 slaves, would receive 100 credits, and 100 sins will be forgiven.

Zikr of Allah SWT is the key to success in both worlds. And this Kalima is no doubt one of the most powerful Zikr of Allah SWT. It helps us focus completely on the Zaat of Allah SWT and nothing else. By reading it 100 times every day we train our subconscious brain to submit to Allah SWT. It is a big miracle of Allah. It is sufficient in all kinds of hardships. It increases our tawakkal on Allah. It makes us feel how powerful and strong the Zaat of Allah SWT is and how weak and tiny our problems are.

In Quran, Allah SWT says shaitan is our open enemy. But we see that most of us do not take this statement seriously. We don’t even realize how the negative energies sink into our life situations. A lot of Muslims complain that we offer tahajjud and still our problems do not go away. Students complain that we are unable to focus. Young mothers get a hard time training their children on deen and doing their school work.

I feel the missing link in all of these people’s lives is the fourth kalima. We have forgotten it. It is our bad that we didn’t value this wonderful gift of Allah SWT. This Kalima is for everyone who wants the best in both worlds. It will immediately bring you to a conscious state. It is very important to have self-awareness. As most people do not take full responsibility for their actions they blame other people and situations for their failures. Even I used to be among this category of people who didn’t take personal responsibility for failures.

My experience is amazingly beautiful with the fourth kalima. For me when nothing works, the 4th kalima works like a magic wand. I experience postpartum depression and postpartum psychosis since the birth of my 3rd child. The initial few weeks to months are the hardest for me. I have experienced attacks of negativity and episodes of self-victimization, guilt, anger, and a mix of all negative emotions that take me away from the present moment.

The real treasure of a human being in the Present Moment. Past and Future both are deceptions. And the more we dwell on the wounds of the past and the worries of the future, the more we go away from our present.

Allah SWT has made us the Khaleefa on this earth. Unfortunately, the love of person and material has made us blind to this big reality. We have lost the connection with the real or only source of power. Connection with the creators is the first step to spiritual well-being. And this one step can be through this mighty kalima and it is always it for me. Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Aalameen, wa Alhamdulillahi Alaa Kulli Haal.

See the below verse of the Quran and realize how much vulnerable we are every moment to the attacks of our only enemy:

Indeed Shaitan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his party to be among the companions of Blaze. (35:6)

“Iblis said: ‘Because You have sent me astray, surely, I will lie in wait against them (human beings) on Your straight path. Then, I will come to them from before them and behind them, from their right and from their left, and You will not find most of them as thankful ones (i.e they will not be dutiful to You” (Qur’an, 7:17)

It is crystal clear to all of us that social media has become a tool of shaitan. And for those who are not connected to Allah SWT, it is a huge trial today. It eats our precious time and keeps us ignorant.

So why don’t we read this powerful fourth Kalma to control our Nafs and protect ourselves from the constant attacks of shayateen.
