1. Be Kind To Animals

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

There is a reward for serving any living being – Sahih al-Bukhari 6009

Did you know that even showing kindness to animals can bring you rewards? You might have heard a famous story about a man who was forgiven by Allah only because he provided water to a thirsty dog.

Even a small act of kindness towards animals can benefit the giver. So, every time you see a bird, a cat, or even a small insect, let this great example inspire you to treat them gently. It may seem like you’re only helping an animal, but it could help you somehow!

2. Smiling is Charity

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Your smiling in the face of your brother is charity – Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1956

Did you know that not only does a smile make people happy but it is a form of Sadaqah! Smiling at people is an act of sharing love and joy that the Prophet (ﷺ) taught us, so let’s turn that frown into a smile and share one every day.

3. Sharing is Caring

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself. – (Al- Bukhari and Muslim)

Let’s be honest! Have you ever shared your toys with your friends or siblings? Did you ever share your favorite snacks with anyone? If not, then it’s time you start doing it!

It could be a toy or a kind word to someone, just like you want the best for yourself, share it with others as well.

4. Say The Truth, Be Honest

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Say the truth even though it is bitter – Book 7, Hadith 132

It is important to speak the truth! This is not easy but it helps in creating trust and makes people feel comfortable around you. Whether it is to apologize for something or to offer a compliment, honesty is the key to being a good person! The Prophet (ﷺ) always told us that honesty is the best way to go.

5. Say Bismillah Before Eating

Say Bismillah Before Eating Hadith

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Mention Allah’s Name (i.e., say Bismillah before starting eating), eat with your right hand, and eat from what is near you. – [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Did you know that saying Bismillah before eating is like inviting blessings to your meal? The Prophet (ﷺ) also encouraged us to eat with others because sharing food brings people closer. So, the next time you sit at the table, start with Bismillah and enjoy your meal with family or friends.

6. Lend a Helping Hand

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Allah will help His slave so long as His slave helps his brother. – Sunan Ibn Majah 225

Whether it’s your friend, family, or someone new at school, lending a helping hand can make their day! Imagine you’re helping someone struggling to carry out their school books or needing help trying their shoelaces, a smile on their face speaks a lot. Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) taught us that helping others is a way to earn Allah’s help too.

7. Keep Your Promises

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

The signs of a hypocrite are three: Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie; and whenever he promises, he breaks his promise; and whenever he is entrusted, he betrays (proves to be dishonest). – Sahih al-Bukhari 6095

Imagine promising your friend that you will play with him and then you don’t show up. How bad would your friend would feel? Keeping promises is a way to build trust and show respect. Before you give a word, think twice about it, whether you could fulfill it or not. Remember, once the trust is broken, it will be very hard to regain it.

8. Cleanliness is Half of Faith, Stay Clean

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

Cleanliness is half of faith – Sahih Muslim 223

Not only the physical cleanliness of the body, clothes, and house but even a clean heart is a symbol of Imaan. When we stay clean, we show gratitude to Allah SWT for the blessings He has given us.

9. Show Gratitude to Parents

Abu Huraira reported that a person said:

Allah’s Messenger, who amongst the people is most deserving of my good treatment? He said: Your mother, again your mother, again your mother, then your father, then your nearest relatives according to the order (of nearness). – Sahih Muslim 2548b

Remember, parents work hard to give their children the best life possible. Thanking them, listening to them, and helping them shows how much you love them and appreciate them, and they deserve this! A smile, spending a good time laughing & eating together, and doing this that makes them happy means a lot to them.
