Abdullah b. Amr b. Al-‘As reported that he heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Verily, the hearts of all the sons of Adam are between the two fingers out of the fingers of the Compassionate Lord as one heart. He turns that to any (direction) He likes. Then Allahs Messenger (ﷺ) said: O Allah, the Turner of the hearts, turn our hearts to Thine obedience. Sahih Muslim 2655

Why Our Hearts Need Constant Firming Up
Let’s be honest with ourselves. We live in times where fitnah is everywhere.
Open your phone – there’s something inappropriate. Go to work – there’s free mixing and gossip. Talk to friends – there’s mocking of religious people. Scroll through social media – there’s doubt being planted about Islam itself.
I’ve seen so many youngsters who say, “I used to pray, but I don’t feel anything anymore.” Or, “I know Islam is true, but my heart just feels… empty.”
Wallahi, this is exactly why we need “Ya Muqallibal Qulub Thabbit Qalbi Ala Dinik.”
The heart is not like a rock that stays still. It’s more like water – it can boil, it can freeze, it can flow, it can stagnate. Only Allah knows what state it will be in tomorrow morning.
Umm Salamah (RA) reported that the Prophet (ﷺ) would often make this dua in his prayers:
“Ya Muqallibal Qulub, Thabbit Qalbi Ala Deenik.”
She asked him the same question: “O Messenger of Allah, why do you supplicate so often with this dua?”And he gave the same profound answer: “O Umm Salamah! Verily, there is no human being except that his heart is between Two Fingers of the Fingers of Allah, so whomsoever He wills He makes steadfast, and whomever He wills He causes to deviate.” – Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3522, Grade: Hasan
