Undoubtedly, a righteous child is a great blessing from Allah (SWT). Every parent wishes to have a child who helps them in their work, laughs with them, spends quality time with them, and prays for their forgiveness.

Indeed a man may ascend a level in Paradise by his child asking forgiveness for him. [Sunan Ibn Majah 3660]

There’s another popular Hadith of Sahih Muslim 1631:

Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

When a man dies, his acts come to an end, but three, recurring charity, or knowledge (by which people) benefit, or a pious son, who prays for him (for the deceased).

So from the Qur’an ayat and Hadiths mentioned here, it is encouraged to recite the Dua Rabbi Habli Minas Saliheen sincerely for a righteous child. May Allah bestow us a righteous offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, Ameen.
